Born in Colorado, an art major at Colorado State University, I have since studied art at Foothills Art Center, Rocky Mountain School of Art, Loveland Academy of Fine Arts. I was selected as one of 25 students to study with Quang Ho for year 1998-99 at the Art Students League. Subject matter of interest is the landscape, still life subjects and figure work. I often attempt to express special lighting effects which may help produce a mood, convey a time of day or show atmospheric effects of nature. Much of my work comes from inspirations found traveling. New sights create excitement to convey a new or different setting, lighting or subject. Scenes from France make up a major part of my subject matter. I have found parts of France where little has changed over the centuries; this intrigues me and always sparks my interest. I believe art is an important form of communication. Art is often treasured above other worldly things, surviving generations, sometimes even centuries. Art can express who we are and what we care about. In my opinion, good art expresses the strength, the beauty and the sensitivity of humanity. Communicating through my art is a tremendously exciting and rewarding endeavor. |
