David Kreitzer

Medium:
Current Exhibits: Figural; Landscapes with Architecture

David Kreitzer was born in Ord, Nebraska in 1942, the fourth of five children. His father was a Lutheran minister and the family moved frequently during David's childhood. David's father, Reverend Kreitzer, was an amateur photographer. David's series of paintings depicting Nebraska, are listed under the title My Fathers Memories. These paintings are based upon the abundance of black and white photographs taken by the Reverend Kreitzer capturing and recording the history of the family's experiences from 1936 to 1950. The vivid and colorful paintings are memories of everyday life from the depression to WWII. The Kansas series follows the longstanding tradition of other American artists such as Grant Woods and Thomas Hart Benton, in the recording of and preservation of the sights, sounds, and smells of rural America. In addition to the Nebraska series, are David's vivid landscape paintings.
